I saw this and I just HAD to share it with my loyal readers. I read about this program coming out of MIT 8 months ago where you draw an environment and when you press play, a guy on a bicycle begins and this program simulates true physics. Example: you draw a hill with a lip at the bottom then press play, and the dude rides down the hill and then jumps the lip into the air…no other coding needed!
Well…that was boring but this below makes it fun!
I’ve been addicted to a game lately. Imagine that right? Well…this isn’t a normal game…it’s a geek game!
Aren’t all games geeky?
No. They’re not. But this one is. I can’t stop playing and I have successfully hooked several friends/coworkers to it.
Is it bad? No…it will help you think more clearly and you will be more successful in business and life.
Seriously! Check it out here. Pass the second level and then post your total moves here. See how “geek” you are.
My friend/co-worker James shot me this email yesterday morning and it made me think of something. It’s simplicity and yet it’s powerful statement.
He sent it to me because of the new flooring he put it. I took a look at it though, and obviously focused on the chair and the computer. This area is part of his “Man-Shed” building. I have something similar yet a bit more complex: The Male Non-Discriminate Room.
The point of this post is not about each others areas of peace and solitude though, but more about what one can do with a chair and a computer. I can log into a server from across the US or the world for that mater and have tangible access to that companies livelihood. People entrust us (IT guys) with their data. Almost implicitly. I have many clients with lots of information including finances and operational procedures. And yet, with all of this information, rarely did I ever get asked any questions on my morals/ethics or sign any legal papers for using or disseminating that data. I could easily sell that to a competitor or just erase it period.
Why is that?
People…don’t you understand that I can not only put you out of business, but your employees out of a job as well? I know this sounds very glorified and standoff-ish, but I only say this to drive a point. I believe I’m well passed the stage of even remotely harming a company in this fashion but I know that there are IT guys who don’t have the same ethics as I do. But at the same time, you need to understand the importance of that data and when to show it to who.
I want to make one thing clear: All IT Consultants/System Administrators have god complexes. If they tell you they don’t, they’re lying. With that said, most of us are all grown up and want to help. Just be mindful of the person who doesn’t.
In the end, it’s all about trust.

Today has been one of those days. Zaeda is currently dragging her daddy’s gym bag up to her room to do time out. For the 80 thousandth time in the last hour. Amazing, since she only spends two minutes at a time in time out. She trudges up the stairs yelling “SORRY MOMMY.” Which breaks my heart, and at the same time I am thinking, “Ok, this is actually good for her. She will learn valuable lessons and be a better human for it.” Yeah. Well.
She is talking so much now. Which is good, and bad. She is taking on rude tones, saying mean little things. I have already heard my first ” you’re a mean mommy.” She is only two. I thought that would come much later. On the other hand, She sings so sweetly now. She is also awesome with carrying on conversations and being a little sweetie while we are around others in public places!
I’ve decided to start a series. It’s all about randomness. A lot of respectable blogger’s have commented on how important blog titles are. We @ QuintessentialSainz also understand that these titles are important, we just see them differently. So every now and then (and probably for the next string of blog posts) you will have seemingly random titles that have absolutely nothing to do with the content of the post. Makes you think twice about the post doesn’t it? How’s that for sticking it to the man.
In other news…I saw this video and I couldn’t stop chuckling. Take a look:
I had a really good blog I was going to post tonight. But then I forgot it. See…I’m not the type of person to write stuff down or start the post and finish it later. I’m the person who has to sit down that very second and get it out of my head. Sometimes my head hurts afterwards, but to let that idea, that fleeting thought out of my head is almost as good as playing video games, which for me is a big thing.
Going to go see War with my friend Dan. Hoping Jay will make it as well…but something tells me he won’t :p

Yes, I have been tagged. I’m supposed to give you guys some rules, but rules are for wussies. Ok, so I will give them to you.
1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don?t forget to leave them a comment telling them they?re tagged, and to read your blog.
———————————————————————————————-
Here’s my 8:
1. I used to be called anti-social. Actually, I was kinda anti-social. But ever since having that tag over me in high school, I was determined to change that. I think I have now. What’s even funnier, one of the people who called me this (My lovely wife) isn’t as social as me now. :p
2. I don’t dream. Scratch that. My wife says that I HAVE to dream, which I believe. But I haven’t remembered ANY dream since I was 14-15 years old.
3. My wife and I met in preschool. Some people know this, most people don’t. I always say she took my juice and I took it personally. Started dating at 13 and it all went on from there. Some people say it’s weird while I’m thinking ”I’m sure you will find your significant other sooner in the next life…”.
4. I have always been against tattoos till the beginning of this year. Not sure what has changed, but ever since January-February it has crossed my mind every once in awhile. It’s now being enforced since I found out Jenni and Matt got one. I will always claim I thought of it first though. I was thinking something in Hebrew…always loved that language…
5. I have a thing with pain medication. To date, I have taken 1600mg of Ibuprofen and about 1200mg of Tylenol since I was 15. I have never taken more than 200mg at one time during a 6 hour period. I avoid taking it like the plague. Actually, if it’s an acute/sharp pain like a nail through your hand, I won’t take any. It’s the dull pain that I sometime need a little help. I once took half a pill of Oxycodin (I really tried to not take that) when I had my wisdom teeth pulled and that was it for me.
6. I perform my own surgeries. Whether it’s ingrown toe nail, or anything topical I love the chance to “explore my own body at my personal expense”. I just don’t see a reason for having someone do it for you when you are fully capable of doing it yourself! For the record, I do not enjoy pain, regardless of where it is or what circumstance.
7. I can recite a Windows 98 CD key. Ask anytime! Some people who don’t believe me and make me recite it more than once. Silly people, CD Key’s are for nerds!
8. My wife and I have a birth mark in the exact same place. Not exactly the same birth mark (I have these bumps like little dots on my arm while she has just slightly bigger freckle on her arm.) but in the exact same place, dead on. We figure we’ve been marked by aliens and are awaiting pickup. We’ve know we’re different from the start.
Here is who I’m tagging:
Tyler Auble
James Shufelt
Stephanie Shufelt
Dan Yoder
Seth Quier
Arianna (My little sis)
My 3rd Grade Teacher
Joe Thomas

Oh Man Oh man… I’ve been tagged.
8 Random facts about me, eh?
Well…
1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
1: When I was young I had several sets of baby teeth- yep, they
just kept falling out and I kept getting money from the tooth fairy. Dentists were always amazed.
( what’s even more strange is that Mike had several sets of baby teeth too!)
2: I have had complete dreams in another language- while I was in Mexico for a
submersion trip during my sophomore year of high school ( sadly, most of
my Spanish is gone now.)
3: The first thing that I was super stoked about in our new house was that I could
have a HUGE Christmas tree if I ( I WILL) want this year.
Then I was stoked about the side by side fridge and our pantry. ( Yes.. simple
pleasures are best for me.)
4: I really REALLY want an animal ( A DOG) but I am not allowed to have
one ( Mike’s rules). Ok.. and then sometimes I think to myself.. ARE YOU SERIOUS! A DOG AND
A TODDLER?????? Yeah right.
5: My whole life I have been a shoe person. I always want to buy shoes.
Amazingly I have passed that on to Zaeda and she has a great shoe collection
already! However, she is much more into “bling” and purses than I am. She enjoys looking
at bling in whatever store we happen to be in.
6: I have realized that as much as I groan and complain about my husbands tv choices ( CSI, COPS,
Star Trek, Law and Order) I also sit there and watch them all. So, there must be some
sort of compelling factor in them for me as well.
7: I am really into researching my ancestors, family heirlooms and traditions.
8: It is almost September- therefore, I will just say. I am a week OLDER than Michael.
He will tell everyone otherwise, but he lies. September is a very busy birthday and special day
month for us. Maybe he just *forgets*
Sept 8th- our anniversary ( 5 years!) Sept. 16th My birthday, Sept 22nd- Mikes birthday ( We’ll be 25!)
Here’s the problem… I dont think I know of anyone that hasnt been tagged except Tyler and Lacey.
So I am sure we will tag them, however, I dont know who else to tag.. so since I typed mine first…
I will let Mike decide that. MUAHAHA.

I’ve really been trying to get to the gym lately, and I even made a good attempt Monday, but it just seems that I can’t make it there on a consistent basis. I’m like Jay trying to hit the pop habit. I need around 7 hours of sleep to work efficiently, and well…judging at the time of this post I will not be making it again tomorrow. Bleh.
I finally added Karen to my list of blogs that I read, I’ve been meaning to do it for awhile, but often I would forget and then I saw her at church one Sunday and that reminded me. So needless to say, I had to feed my compulsiveness and read ALL of her posts. I loved this one the best, I can relate to it the most.
Just give me the coffee.
In other news, I was talking to Brian about some computer stuff (which reminds me to follow up with him…) and driving along Stark St and 120th and a little boy ran out into the street. I almost creamed him with my Honda.
Not sure what I would have done, I was pretty happy with the body shop at Tonkin Honda, probably take the Civic there…

What will people do for their cup of Starbucks? What would I have done this morning without mine?!? Waking up at 5:00am and not go exercise is brutal enough, but not allowing me to have some “go juice”, well…that’s just ludicrous. And that got me thinking: Since there is such a cult following with SB, what are people willing to do for them?
I went out to search for the answer today…and I found one.
