Yes kiddies, it was my birthday day again. Again you say? Because I have many birthdays throughout the year…I’m just that cool.
This year was a bit different though. First off, I totally forgot it was Saturday. I was thinking it was today, but I was pleasantly surprised when I checked my email on Friday and I noticed the date. Opps. Another surprise was that I was awoken up to Zaeda saying “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” and a Cinabon Pecan-Bun which I LOVE. After I finished the process of waking up (which required me to roll out of bed, hit my head on the wall adjacent to said bed, and then get stuck between the bed and the wall) I went down stairs to see Melanie on the computer and Zaeda playing on the couch. As I was asking Melanie what we should be doing today, I was then in the shock of my life.
She had snuck a gift in…without me knowing.
Before I continue, there is something you should know. I am a control freak. If you weren’t aware of this before (pfft???) you now do. What do I do with this control, absolutely nothing really…I just want to know what’s going on. So it is very rare that I get a gift that I don’t know about. Now here is a twist, even though I know what I’m getting, I totally put on this show where I
act genuinely surprised regarding a gift. But what Mel and Zade got me I truly didn’t think was going to happen.
What was this gift? The best gift in the entire world: Xbox 360!
Not only the Xbox 360, the Xbox 360 Elite. This not only allows me to play video games in the comfort of my underwear, it allows me to connect with my friends Jay and Matt in a meaningful way (while I’m fully clothed).
Afterwards, we just relaxed at home and then went to Borders to pick up a book (which I will blog about soon) and had dinner. We had to cut dinner short as Zaeda came down with a mean cough and fever. I’m looking forward to my 2-3 vacation days soon, but I will blog about that in another post.
Today has been a great day. Lizzie and Zaeda and I played a lot. We went to the park, we played at home, we went shopping a bit. You know. Just things that girls do.
However, there has been a bit of cousin/sibling - rivalry/jealousy. It has taken the form of Zaeda replying opposite of whatever Lizzie says. So. Randomly Lizzie spoke up and told me ” I dont eat bugs, that’s icky!”
and Zaeda promptly turns to me, with a very serious ( sorta almost the “dare me to do it” look) and said … ” I eat bugs.” and she pulled an *Imaginary - Thank goodness* spider out of her backpack and pops it in her mouth, chews and says ” ooooh. yum.” And then she waited for my response. It was great. It took all the power I had not to bust up laughing. I figured though, if I laughed, the next thing she would eat would be a real spider and that would REALLY BOTHER ME. So I just said.. “no.. Lizzie is right, spiders and bugs are icky to eat.. but I am really glad that you are pretending things today!” That worked, because the rest of the day it was only pretending tea party that I had to contend with. Tea parties I can handle. Eating spiders.. not so much.
Ah. So now I understand the amazing importance of being 25…… haha.
I had a good birthday though.
* Taught in the 2 year old room at church
* Went to Todai at Pioneer place!
* Got some new clothes for work ( I started a pt job at my Dad’s business)
WoohoO! for birthdays.
I have some goals and must do’s for this year.
I will be healthier.
I will continue cutting out refined sugar, icky white flour and CRAP from my diet.
I will continue drinking lots of water and working out ( daily if at all possible)
I will get to my goal weight.
I will travel somewhere hecka cool ( hopefully a cruise… ok this might have to happen after this year… depends on monetary ability) and experience hot, white sandy beaches with crystal clear water.
I will give myself more positive self talk than I ever have before. ‘Cause Dangit. I deserve it.
I will mend some friendships that need mending and begin new friendships that need beginning.
Yeah. It will be a happy year.

So I got a call from Jay on Thursday asking a rather random question:
What are you doing tomorrow night and Saturday?
For a second I thought “Want to see a really long movie?” as most activities that Jay and I do are movies (which is awesome). But after he explained that we would be going with 5 other guys I had an idea of what we were going to do. It’s all about accountability, something that has been weighing heavy on my heart lately.
Too many times I have seen Christians stumble and fall with purity and accountability. Whether Matt knew it or not, he was an accountability partner for me. I saw him as
a role model and I knew I needed something when he moved away.
Enter “The Group”
Now granted, you’re going to take a look at these pictures and our wives will listen to our stories when we get home and probably chuckle inside (or out) but we made some good connections here. It’s very important that you create a serious bond with the people in this type of group. How do we do this?
Poker!
It was kind of weird, but although we were at the ocean, we didn’t step a foot on the beach. We decided to descend on Canon Beach and bunker down in an Inn and setup a poker table. We also took to the shops for some ice cream, sounds romantic doesn’t it? Let’s just say I wouldn’t classify it like that.
You just had to of been there…
When I think of the differences between the liberal mind set and the conservative one, in the end, for me it comes down to good vs. evil.
Many people don’t agree with this statement.
To those who don’t, often consider the actions of others a “mistake”. I want to offer this as proof that this is not a mistake, this is just evil.

A warning to young ones, this is a bit gross.
Allrighty. So it’s late and I really cannot formulate the most perfect blog. However, I have some things to share with you readers out there. Listen up.
I have decided something is wrong with me. We went to the zoo the other day. Zaeda and Michael and Myself. We had a blast. As we were going through the zoo and I was informing Z of the parts of the zoo I loved the best as a child I started to wonder “am I weird?” My favorite things at the zoo are: The polar bear foot that has “broken through” the fake ice ceiling in the polar bear exhibit. The reindeer exibit…. where you stand at the little fake sunset over the hills until the sun starts coming up and you hear these strange animals noises.. and OH MY GOSH… there are some fake stuffed deer in the glass to your left!!!! and the fake animals in the boxes at the “congo” station.. which I dont even know if they are still there, because we didnt make it that far at the zoo. Hrmm. Analyze that.
Our fifth anniversary was yesterday. We had an awesome, amazing day. * warning* next statement is going to sound incredibly cheezy. Mike gave me the bestest gift he could have given me. A full day of time. Now, to some that would sound silly. But, I dont get time with Mike. Very rarely does he have a day where he doesnt have to work or is being called. Now, thats all fine and dandy most of the time. Sometimes, I just need to have all his attention. It was amazing and perfect. We hit some of our favorite places : 23rd., Powells books, hrmm. we hit Lloyd center, but I dont know if that is really a favorite place. It was just an all around really good day. Five years has been amazingly awesome.
Today we had a family birthday party. Hrmm. Turning 25 and for the first time I really just feel like.. uhmm… I dont need a party, I dont need presents.. I need sleep, a good night and a day to sleep in. Crazy.
My family has this obsession with MAKING you read your birthday cards out loud while they video tape. Since there were five of us celebrating birthdays in our family for the month of september, it was a lot of cards to read. Ugh.
Ok Im going to bed. My eyes are slowly closing.
Gnite fellow bloggers. May your dreams be good.
Found this on the grid last night and felt compelled to share. I know many people who have seen 300 and enjoyed it urging me to see it. Since it’s on DVD now, maybe I’ll add it to Netflix and pick it up.
